Father God, Adonai, Our Lord and Master,
Looking at the Sermon Title “Devoted”, the first thing that came to mind was the song “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and I thought that we should all be hopelessly devoted to you.
You quickly pointed out that we truly are “hopelessly” devoted to any human or anything, because we cannot truly trust and depend on them. We are to be “hopefully” devoted to You, because You are the God of Hope, and Jesus is our Living Hope. Your Word is true and we stand on and claim every promise.
Randomly opening the Bible to Psalms, I immediately fell in love with the words
“I sing for joy at the works of your hands.”
“Come let us sing for joy to the Lord, shout aloud to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the Great King above all other Gods. Come let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker for He is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.”
“The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad. Let us sing to you a new song.”
Lord, may this be our posture and our desire this morning, as we come to you.
May we say, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
As we keep our mind on you, fix our eyes on you, attune our ears to you, trust and depend on you, and obey your every word and calling, by the power of the Holy Spirit, may we draw closer to thee, increase our faith, and walk in the Spirit.
We thank you Lord that your mercies are new every morning.
Come Holy Spirit come!
In Jesus’ Name, AMEN”
