Lord Jesus Christ, we come before you
today with gratitude and thanksgiving for
your sacrifice on our behalf. Jesus, you are
a high priest forever in the order of
Melchizedek; you are not a high priest who
is unable to empathize with our weakness,
but you were tempted in every way just as
we are, but you did not sin. For this
reason, we can approach your throne with
confidence that we may receive mercy and
grace in our time of need. Father
Almighty, you have established a new
covenant and promised to put your laws
directly into our minds and write them onto
our hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, your word is filled with a great cloud
of witnesses who have shown us examples
of how to run with perseverance the race
marked out for us, and you Lord Jesus are
the perfect example for us to emulate. We
now will close our eyes and silently praise
and thank you for the witnesses in our lives
who have molded our faith and ask the
Holy Spirit for strength and wisdom to be a
witness to others.
…
Now may the God of peace, who through
the blood of the eternal covenant brought
back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that
great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you
with everything good for doing his
will, and may he work in us what is
pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to
whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
