Bound for the Promised Land

The Better Man- Bound for the Promised Land

For the Lenten Season and Eastertide, we have been in a sermon series called, “The Better Man”. We’ve been comparing Jesus to Moses through his life, death, and resurrection. Today, we ventured into new territory with Jesus and Joshua. Joshua was a mighty man of faith, chosen to lead the Hebrew People into the Promised Land of Israel. Jesus conquered death, hell, and the grave as the One chosen to lead all people into the Eternal Promised Land of Heaven.

Jesus offers us the better inheritance: eternal life and the Holy Spirit. Not only did he live and die for us, purchasing our salvation with his own perfect life and blood, but he also rose again so we could experience resurrection and eternal life. But he didn’t stop there! He also gave us his Holy Spirit to carry us on this earth as we make our way toward the eternal Promise Land. Let us march forward with faith.

Next week we will conclude this sermon series. You have a homework assignment. Read the Book of Hebrews (yes, the whole book). I could make a 12-week sermon series on “The Better Man” based off of this book alone in the future or we could have a 12-hour sermon next Sunday! Instead, let’s read this book together in preparation for next week’s summary sermon. Invite someone to church this week and tell them about Jesus, the Better Man.
