But Wait! There’s More

Acts 19:1-7

Are you filled with the Holy Spirit? That was the question asked today. In Acts 19, Paul found people who had accepted the message of repentance from John the Baptist but not yet heard about salvation through Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We must live in the fullness of the Gospel, believing in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Like a flashlight without batteries, we will be without spiritual power apart from the Holy Spirit.

We also considered question number 26 of the Global Methodist Church Catechism: “How must we receive Scripture?” Our answer at Austin Global Methodist Church is: “The Holy Bible is to be received through the Holy Spirit as the true rule and guide for faith and practice.” If you would like to learn more about this, study Proverbs 30:5-6, James 1:21-25, I Peter 1:23-25, and II Timothy 3:16-17 in your personal devotions. At Austin GMC, we believe that God’s Word is fully inspired and seek to bring the Living Word into the city of Austin and beyond.

This weekend, Pastor Lauren led a prayer workshop at 1st Methodist Irving and many members of our prayer team attended “Austin Awake”, an ecumenical prayer gathering uniting believers to pray specifically for revival in the Austin area. On Monday June 30th, our church will be praying for revival for 24 hours. Will you join us in prayer for the Austin area? Will you pray for the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts and our church?

Blessings,

Rev. Lauren Green Yates, MDiv.

Pastor of Austin Global Methodist Church
