The Scapegoat-- Leviticus 12

This Sunday, we continued our new sermon series, “Follow the Lamb”. We were in everyone’s favorite book of the Bible: LEVITICUS! Everyone loves that book, right? Well, we should because all of it points directly to Jesus, who is our Passover Lamb, Scapegoat, and Great High Priest. Let us be grateful that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law and by his death, we now are covered with the blood of the Lamb.

This week we also meditated on question #6 of the Global Methodist Church Catechism: “How does God rule heaven and earth?” Our answer at Austin Global Methodist Church is: “God rules with gracious regard for the well-being and salvation of all, to the glory of his Name.” We believe in a loving and caring God. If you’d like to learn more about this, study Exodus 34:6, Psalm 104:31, 116:5, Joel 2:13, Micah 7:18-20, John 3:16, Ephesians 2:4-7, and II Peter3:9 in your personal devotions.

Next week, we will be in the Book of Isaiah, the most prophetic book of the Bible. I encourage you all to read Isaiah 53 in preparation for next week’s sermon. Be in prayer for those who do not yet know the Lamb, so they can follow him too.

Blessings,

Rev. Lauren Green Yates, MDiv.
