The Lenten season has begun. Lent is an opportunity to prepare our hearts as we journey to the cross and the empty grave. This Lenten season we will be reading through the Book of John and asking ourselves, “What would I give up and what would I take on for a closer walk with Jesus.” Be sure to follow along with your church family as we journey through the Book of John. Here’s the devotional link:
This week we also meditated on question #10 of the Global Methodist Church Catechism: “Why did the Son become human?” Our answer at Austin Global Methodist Church is: “For us and for our salvation.” If you’d like to learn more about this aspect of Jesus, study John 3:17, 14:6, Acts 4:12, 16:30-31, Romans 3:21-26, 10:9, Titus 3:6-7, and Hebrews 7:25 in your personal devotions.
The challenge from the sermon from John 1 was to write “Am I a Disciple?” on your mirror or somewhere you will see it each day. If we are to make disciples of Jesus, we need to count the cost of following him ourselves. May we take up our cross and follow him.
Blessings,
