Am I an Evangelist?

Updated: Apr 21

He is risen!!! Jesus Christ is alive and this good news has changed our lives. Now we have been given to the sacred task to “go and tell” of the empty tomb.

Holy Week has come to completion. We worshipped King Jesus on Palm Sunday. We challenged ourselves to take on the form of a servant and love one another like Jesus did on Maundy Thursday. We found ourselves at the foot of the cross with nails in our hands on Good Friday. It was not just “for” us that Jesus died but because of us. Then we celebrated the Risen Lord on Resurrection Sunday. Our choir shared a worshipful special and the house was packed. Christ be praised!

This week, our church considered question number 16 of the Global Methodist Church Catechism: “Is Jesus Christ our Great High Priest?” This is very fitting to ask, especially on Resurrection Sunday. Our answer at Austin Global Methodist Church is: “Yes. Because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” If you would like to learn more about the Priesthood of Jesus, study Romans 8:34, Hebrews 4:14-16, 7:11-28, and I John 2:1-2 in your personal devotions.

Please keep our El Salvador AGMC mission team, including several Concordia University students, in your prayers this week. They will be leaving next Sunday to share the Good News and bring hope to the people of El Salvador. God is on the move!

Tell someone about the Risen Lord this week. The best thing Christians and the church can uniquely offer the world is the blessed news of the Resurrected Lord. May you go forth as bold witnesses.

Blessings,

Rev. Lauren Green Yates, MDiv.

Pastor of Austin Global Methodist Church
