This Sunday, we welcomed Pastor David, his music team, and the members of Mission Zion Austin to our service. We were bursting at the seams with praise, children, and new friends. It was a great Sunday in the House of the Lord.
This week, we started our new sermon series, “Follow the Lamb”. We read from Genesis 3 and were reminded of the fall of mankind and God’s goodness to clothe them with the first sacrifice. He also gave them the promise that one day the Serpent’s head would be crushed. Next week, we will learn about Jehovah Jireh’s provision on Mount Moriah. Read Genesis 22 in preparation for next week’s sermon.
This week we also contemplated Question #3 of the Global Methodist Church Catechism: “What is the mystery of the Trinity? Our answer at Austin Global Methodist Church is: “God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, distinct but inseparable, eternally one in essence and power.” Our belief in the Holy Trinity, though mysterious to our human minds, is distinctive and foundational to our faith. If you’d like to learn more about this, study Luke 3:21-22, John 15:26, Acts 2:33, Romans 8:9-11, II Corinthians 13:13, Galatians 4:4-6, Ephesians 2:18, Titus 3:4-6, Hebrews 9:14, and I Peter 1:2 in your personal devotions.
As the Lord begins to put people in your path, may you radiate the goodness of God. Point others to the Lamb of God. Be bold in your witness. People are dying to know the Lamb!
Blessings,
Rev. Lauren Green Yates, MDiv.
