Austin Global Methodist Church celebrated their 1st birthday as a church. All glory to God! This past Sunday, we concluded our sermon series on the Book of Matthew, “Thy Kingdom Come”, on the Great Commission by unveiling our core values, mission statement, vision statement, and core beliefs. We are a church on a mission!
This week will be an action-packed week for the church. On Wednesday, we will continue celebrating our birthday at Camino Real Mexican Restaurant from 5-7pm. On Thursday, at the Concordia University Chapel, we will feed and worship with the university students from 8:30pm to 10:00pm. This is a great way to show the university students the love of Jesus in a practical, fun way.
This upcoming Sunday, October 27th, we will celebrate Reformation Sunday with many other believers across the world. It’s important to know the history of where we came from. The 95 Theses that Martin Luther nailed to the door of the church in Wittenburg, Germany still impacts us as a church today, even as Methodists.
As we go forward, let us be mindful of our core values (honor Christ, walk in his ways, live in his grace and truth), our core beliefs (Jesus is Lord and Savior, the Bible is true, disciples are called to be gracious and holy), our mission (revive people with the Living Word, make disciples, spread Scriptural holiness across Austin and beyond), and our vision (worship passionately, love extravagantly, witness boldly). This is who we are, what we believe, why we exist, and how we will get there. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will be the church God created us to be!
Blessings,
