Pentecost Sunday

This week was Pentecost Sunday, the day we celebrate the “birthday” of the Church and remember when God gave his people the Law and then later his Holy Spirit. I encourage all of you to remember that every day is Pentecost when you are filled with the Spirit.
I witnessed the Spirit moving during our mission trip to Bulgaria. The churches there are devoted to the Word, prayer, giving, fellowship, and Holy Communion. It is evident revival is coming out of Bulgaria. Will we pray for revival to break out here?
We also considered question number 23 of the Global Methodist Church Catechism: “Is Salvation possible apart from the Holy Spirit?” Our answer at Austin Global Methodist Church is: “No, the Spirit leads us through faithful response through the Gospel into the fellowship of the church.” If you would like to learn more about this, study Rom. 8:9–17 and Eph. 2:17–22 in your personal devotions. At Austin GMC, we pray for the presence of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and in our church.
As summer approaches, let us commit with new devotion to pray for revival. Soon we will have Vacation Bible School with Mission Zion and other opportunities to be a blessing to our community. But apart from the Holy Spirit, we cannot accomplish anything for the Kingdom. Let us not grow weary with well doing. The harvest is coming!
I look forward to seeing what God will do through us and in us as we pray for more of the Holy Spirit. See you all next week as we celebrate Father’s Day!
Blessings,
