This Sunday we lit the peace candle and focused on the peace that Jesus alone brings us through his birth. We contemplated worldly hope as seen by characters like the chaotic McAlister family from “Home Alone” versus Scriptural hope we see in Mary, who knew the Prince of Peace had come. Despite the unique circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus, Mary allowed the peace of God to rule in her heart. We have a lot to learn from Mary!
Our choir performed “Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus” by Charles Wesley, thanks to our accompanist Ana Moiseeva and choral direction of Cindi Deviney. We blessed Ana on her new adventures as she travels the world with the University of Texas Opera. We are actively searching for a Worship Leader and are prayerfully considering candidates.
As we continue in the Advent season, let us keep our eyes on Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Let us actively seek to be peacemakers and bring the peace of Christ into every room we enter. I look forward to seeing you all the next weeks of advent as we continue learning more about the Christmas story from the Living Word.
Blessings,
