This Sunday, we read perhaps the most important prophetic chapter of the Old Testament: Isaiah 53. In this chapter, we learn so much about who the Promised One would be. He would not be especially majestic but rather a man well acquainted with sorrows. He would be the Suffering Servant. He would be pierced, bruised, punished, and striped for us. Like a Lamb, he would lay down his life but after his suffering, see the light of life again. Who else fulfills this but Jesus?
This week we also meditated on question #7 of the Global Methodist Church Catechism: “Do you believe in Jesus Christ?” Our answer at Austin Global Methodist Church is: “Yes. I believe in One Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God.” If you’d like to learn more about this, study Mark 9:7, Matthew 3:17, John 3:16, Acts 2:36, Romans 10:9, I Corinthians 8:6, Philippians 2:11, and Jude 1:4 in your personal devotions. At AGMC, we believe Jesus is Lord!
Next week, we will conclude our journey from Genesis to John and Revelation, following the Lamb. Every scripture, every prophecy, every law, and every sacrifice of the Old Testament was preparing the hearts of the people to receive Jesus as the Lamb of God. We cannot keep this glorious Good News to ourselves. May our lives declare, “Jesus is the Lamb.”
Blessings,
