This Sunday, we continued our new sermon series, “Follow the Lamb”. We read the Passover story from Exodus 12, knowing that the blood of lambs that once covered the doorposts of houses was pointing to the blood of Jesus that now covers us. The challenge this week was to celebrate Communion with a fresh appreciation for the Lamb of God slain for us and to tell of it’s meaning to the next generation.
This week we also meditated on question #5 of the Global Methodist Church Catechism: “What is God’s relation to heaven and earth?” Our answer at Austin Global Methodist Church is: “God is Creator, Sovereign, and Preserver of all things.” We do not believe in a distant God. He is the One who is actively sustaining us. If you’d like to learn more about this, study Genesis 1, Deuteronomy 4:39, I Kings 8:23, Nehemiah 9:6, Psalm 8:1, Proverbs 16:9, Isaiah 44:24, Acts 17:24, Romans 8:28, and Revelation 4:11 in your personal devotions.
Next week, we will be in the Book of Leviticus (everyone’s most favorite book of the Bible), following the Lamb as God’s story continues. Read Leviticus 16 in preparation for next Sunday. Even in the book of Leviticus, we will see how it all pointed to Jesus.
As you enter into a new week, know that you are covered by the blood of the Lamb. Tell others about the Lamb who was slain for them. My continuous prayer is that we will not just be people who attend church but people who take the Church into the world so that everyone will know Jesus.
Blessings,
