Reading Plan: Matthew 3-4
This past Sunday, we began a new sermon series on the Book of Matthew called “Thy Kingdom Come” and celebrated Christmas early in August. We also sent our school staff and students off with back to school blessings. We are committed to praying for them throughout the school year.
Next Sunday, we will continue looking for the King in the Book of Matthew. We will see Jesus preparing for his Messianic ministry through baptism and facing temptation in the wilderness. In anticipation for next week’s sermon, read Matthew 3-4, looking for all the ways Jesus’ ministry preparation further proves he is Messiah and King.
This week the administrative board will be addressing the business needs of our church, solidifying our vision statement. We will be looking for ways to promote Austin Global Methodist Church through videos, websites, social media, advertisement, etc. The church will continue to collect peanut butter, jelly, and granola bars for students in need. Soon new classes will start so we can deepen our faith. Why? We want to be a blessing. We want people to join us in vision and mission, discover their church family, and give their lives to King Jesus.
I want to encourage each of you to look for ways to share Jesus with those you know and will meet. Make your life a living sermon. Wish people a Merry Christmas in August. Seek to live a holy life like Jesus. Because what is the point of any of this if we do not share the Living Word with the World? People need to know that Jesus is real!
God be with you all until we meet again. May God use each of us to bring revival into the city of Austin through the Living Word!
Blessings,
Rev. Lauren Green Yates, MDiv.
